Sale in Warner Robins features art on wine bottle
Art can come in many shapes, sizes and styles, and at 99 Bottles of Art on the Wall, it will come in 99 5x7 inch pieces of art that will be displayed on wine bottles.
The exhibit is a fundraiser for Land to Hand, which manages the Warner Robins and Perry farmers markets said Jodi Daley, co-founder of the group. The free event will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday at The Painted Door Art Gallery located at 1752 Watson Blvd.
"Most of the art is from Georgia, but some are from other states," Daley said. "The theme is 'Of the Earth,' so the art is the artist's interpretation. It could be earth, still life or an animal."
The art is $30 a piece or two for $50, Daley said, and consists of donations from both amateur and professional artists. Some of the more established artists have even sold art that has gone for thousands of dollars. Each piece of art will be labeled with the artist's name and biography. Professional artists who have donated include Diana Tresslar McClarnon, Manami Lingerfelt, Micah Goguen and Brandon McCullar.
Lori Freeman, another co-founder of Land to Hand, said the request for the donated works of art started back in January and donations are still arriving. Although she doesn't have an exact count of the number of artists donating their works, she said some artists are donating multiple pieces.
With Warner Robins being a military town, Daley said some artists have just continued supporting this local market, despite moving away or being transferred.
"We're getting entries from all over," she said.
The fundraiser is all about the art, not necessarily the bottles of wine, said Freeman, who explained that the wine bottle is simply the object on which the art is being displayed.
"You're buying the art ... and the wine is free," Freeman said.
The art will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis, and pieces that are not sold will still be available for sale the next day at Localicious, a food and entertain event being held at at the Courtyard Marriott, 589 Carl Vinson Parkway in Warner Robins from 4- 8 p.m. Saturday.
