High schools in Houston County presenting spring musicals
Local high schools are getting ready to entertain with the spring productions from their drama departments.
Northside High School is presenting "Shrek the Musical" in the Ray Horne Theater at 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, and at 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10.
"It is a great family show," said Brian Barnett, director of Northside High's drama department. "One of our goals this year was to get more people in from the community to see what we do and this is a show that kids and teenagers know and love. There is also a great message in "Shrek" -- accept yourself and accept others for who they are."
Barnett said that a few children were on hand during the rehearsals and loved it.
"We are really looking forward to having a lot of children see the show. We are excited about seeing them enthralled with these characters," Barnett said.
Warner Robins High School is also performing a familiar show for their spring production, as they bring the world of "Grease" to the stage at the school's Performing Arts Center.
"I really wanted to do a show that had the magic of 'The Follies' since Ronald Barnes is coming. He did 'Grease' in 'The Follies' in 1973," said Nicholas Sostillio, Warner Robins High's drama director. Barnes directed 'The Follies' at the school in the 1970s.
Warner Robins High's production of "Grease" will be 7 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, and at 3 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10 and are on sale at www.wrhstheatre.com.
