Community concert, camps coming up at Museum of Aviation

Edward Eikner and Nadine Cheek will return for an encore performance as the finale of the 2015-16 season for the Warner Robins Community Concert Association. The pianist and mezzo-soprano duo will perform at 3 p.m. April 10 at the First United Methodist Church in Warner Robins. Tickets at the door are $15, or they are free for students of any age.

Eikner and Cheek last appeared in Warner Robins in 2007 with a classical-operatic performance. This year they will take the stage with an American standards program that will include pop selections from Duke Ellington, Hoagy Carmichael, George and Ira Gershwin, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter and Richard Rogers. There also will be a medley of Stephen Foster songs specially arranged by Eikner.

Nadine Cheek is a native Georgian who graduated from Warner Robins High School in 1975 and Wesleyan College in 1979. Her master's degree from College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati is in vocal performance.

Eikner is the recipient of a Van Cliburn scholarship and studied at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Both Cheek and Eikner have extensive experience performing worldwide.
