Buzzell: Holiday events and the Museum of Aviation's marathon, half-marathon and 5K
Christmas is almost here with a few more family public holiday events to enjoy until the big day arrives. On Dec. 11 and 12 at 7 p.m., The Studio located at 202C Ga. 49 South in Byron will host White Christmas, Acting for the Almighty. Tickets are $5.
Also Dec. 12 in Byron, Lunch with Santa will be hosted at the historic train depot. Event times are 10:30 a.m., 11:15 a.m., noon, and 12:45 p.m. Contact Glenda Myers at 478-956-0328 for further details.
Just in the "Nick" of time, the Fine Arts Society of Middle Georgia is currently hosting A Holiday Celebration featuring local artists at its newly opened location at 2507 Moody Road, Warner Robins. The Gallery of Art offers original art, pottery, sculptures, restorations, and art instruction. Hours of operation are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. daily.
The Fine Art Society of Middle Georgia will also be co-producing with the Warner Robins Little Theatre a Christmas Play "Saving Christmas" on Dec. 12 at 5 p.m. Sponsored by Lowe Toyota of Warner Robins, the Christmas show is promoted as being for "all little Princesses, Superheroes and their parents," and children are invited to dress in their favorite costumes.
"Saving Christmas" will be held at the Warner Robins Civic Center at 702 Watson Blvd. Doors open at 4:15 p.m. Tickets are available at the door and are $5 for children and $10 for adults. There will be $1 off each adult ticket for bringing a donation of a new toy for Kids Yule Love. The director of the play is local author Tyler Bryant.

Tyler Bryant also has published his new children's book, "The Canvas Adventures," the first of a series of three books that is available now online. The book is the story of a 12-year-old boy who experiences being pushed through an oil canvas only to be transported to another world.

The Museum of Aviation presents Science with Santa from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 19. Children in pre-K to fifth grade will learn how to make snow while exploring other fun holiday science. For more information call the Museum of Aviation Education Center at 478-926-5558.
The premier kick-off event for the new year in Warner Robins for the past 20 years has been the Marathon, Half-Marathon and 5K, which remains a Boston Marathon qualifier. The marathon, half marathon and 5K Run/Walk is sponsored by the Museum of Aviation Foundation and the Robins Pacers Running/Walking Club and will be held Jan. 16. The marathon and half-marathon courses are certified and will be run on Robins Air Force Base next to the Museum of Aviation.
The start time for the Marathon is 8 a.m. (six-hour cut off); 8:15 a.m. for the half-Marathon; and 8:30 a.m. for the 5K Run/Walk. The opening ceremony with a patriotic theme will be held at the Century of Flight Hangar.
Trophies will be awarded to the overall top three male and female finishers in each race; the overall top three male and female masters (runners ages 40 and above) in each race; the top active duty male and female in the marathon; and a trophy for the Relay Team winner. Award ceremonies will be held in the Museum's Century of Flight Hangar at 9:30 a.m. for the 5K; 10:45 a.m. for the half marathon and 1 p.m. for the marathon.
