Warner Robins man publishes his first children's book
Tyler Bryant has published his first book and he is ready to take your children into another world, all through a picture on the wall.
Bryant, a Warner Robins High School graduate, took time off between finishing his bachelor's degree and starting graduate school next year to write a three-book children's series. The first one has been released and is titled "The Canvas Adventures." Bryant, who resides in Warner Robins, chose to publish the book as T.G. Bryant.
"The Canvas Adventures" is the story of 12-year-old Gabriel and his life in Harmony -- which for Gabriel is anything but harmonious. Gabriel is introverted, unloved and bullied by his family and because of the law in Harmony about only having two children, Gabriel is a third child and his existence is not known outside of his family.
The story continues with an unexpected adventure for Gabriel when he is pushed through an oil canvas and transported to another world.
Bryant was inspired for the background of the story by and oil canvas himself.
"I was sitting at a friend's house and there was a beautiful oil canvas on the wall and I just got to thinking about what would happen if you could go into the painting and meet the people, what their stories would be and see the animals, what would happen if you could touch them and interact with them.
While Gabriel is on a adventure, he is also on a quest to find his love and self-worth, subjects that Bryant says children need to understand in order to make better decisions regarding their actions and choices.
"Gabriel is destined for great things," Bryant said. "All children are destined for great things."
The second book in the series has already been written and will be published in the spring. Bryant said that he has always wanted to be a writer, inspired by his second grade teacher at Shirley Hills Elementary School.
"We had to do a report on the "Velveteen Rabbit" and my teacher, Mrs. Lenderman said my report was beautiful and told me that I was destined to write one day. I never forgot that. No one forgets when they are given the confidence that they are destined for great things," Bryant said.
Bryant also pulls from his faith in writing and "The Canvas Adventures" has a lot of Christian undertones in it. He takes the responsibly of translating the message of finding your self-worth and gaining confidence very seriously with his readers.
"My job as a writer is to hold your hand. When you put down the book, I let go of your hand. Reading is a journey and my job is to hold your hand so that you trust me to get you to the end of the story," Bryant said.
"The Canvas Adventures" is geared for children ages 6-12 and is available for purchase through Amazon and in select bookstores in both softback and ebook form now. For more information, contact the writer directly at 478-919-9889 or by email at tg.bryant@cox.net.
