Loads of Love gets help from national group
A local charity was given a boost due to a microgrant from Karma for Cara.
Loads of Love, which offers laundry service at Git-R-Dun Too in Warner Robins, was chosen to receive between $250-$1,000 for its program.
Girl Scout Caroline Gowan started the charity in June.
"A lot of Caroline's project was focused on the wider community," said Jennie Williams, account manager for Verasolve LLC, which handles marketing for Karma for Cara.
The group, based in Baltimore, gives grants to deserving projects started or thought up by children 18 and younger across the U.S.
What was unusual about Caroline's project, compared to others who applied for funding, was that it was beneficial to a variety of people in the area who had a need to clean their laundry.
"That's what really stood out," Williams said of the selection process.
Gowan and her mother, Michelle Gowan, have been given donations from their church, Bonaire United Methodist Church, as well as from others in the area.
They offer the service once a month.
"What Caroline is doing is something that her community will reap benefits from immediately and Karma for Cara could not be prouder to support Loads of Love," said Miriam Finder, K4C executive director in a press release.
