Cruise-in coming to Perry

A host of cars are coming to Perry courtesy of A Couple of Jerks Soda Fountain Shop.

Downtown Perry will host a car cruise-in 5-8 p.m. Saturday on Carroll Street.

Cars are not limited to classic cars.

Mike Vinson, shop owner, said on the event's Facebook page that anyone who wants to participate is welcome.

"We are a '50s-themed shop so classics just fits the theme," Vinson said. Bikes and other cars are welcome as well.

A local Corvette club has already expressed interest in the cruise-in as well as generated buzz on social media.

Vinson said he expects at least 100 cars for the event. Participation is free.

"If you have a classic, even if it's not show quality, we still want you to bring it on out," Vinson said.

The shop will be open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. and will have a live band playing.

Carroll and Jernigan streets in Perry will be closed for the event so car owners can display their vehicles and drive up and down the streets.
