Warner Robins Junior Women's League raises funds for charities with A Night Out Band Party

If you are looking for something to do this weekend besides watching a football game, the Warner Robins Junior Women's League has just the activity.

The Warner Robins Junior Women's League is hosting its second annual A Night Out Band Party. The event will be held at Houston Lake Country Club and features the group "The Has Beens," which is comprised of former members of Stillwater and Doc Holliday.

Stillwater and Doc Holliday were Southern rock bands that both had hits in the '70s and '80s and toured nationally. Both bands still have a huge following in Middle Georgia, where both were based.

Lindsay Bailey, a member of the Warner Robins Junior Women's League who is the group's fall fundraiser chairman, said that proceeds from the evening of live entertainment will go to benefit several local charities that the organization supports.

"Last year's party was such a big success that we decided to have another one," Bailey said.

Charity endeavors for the Junior Women's League include providing scholarships for local high school seniors as well as holiday meals for the needy in Houston County. The Junior Women's League also provides Christmas gifts for children through DFCS as well as many other community outreach programs.

In addition to their own projects, the Junior Women's League will donate funds to another club -- 10 percent of the event's net proceeds will benefit the Zaltana Club of Perry's project, The Mary Elizabeth Paris Scholarship.

Tickets for the A Night Out Band Party are $65 per couple or $35 per person and include a raffle ticket and heavy hors d'oeuvres. For ticket information, visit wrjwl.org or call 478-952-7466.
