Pedestrian dies in Peach County interstate accident

A pedestrian was killed Saturday night on Interstate 75 in Peach County.

The accident happened about 10:10 p.m. near exit 144, according to a Georgia State Patrol news release. The victim was identified as Ashley Towns of Vienna. Towns was pronounced dead at the scene by the Peach County coroner’s office.

The release said Towns was struck by an 18-wheeler. No charges have been filed.

Northbound interstate traffic was detoured onto Russell Parkway for two hours following the accident.
