A woman has been indicted for posing as an undercover agent for the GBI and disrupting Veterans High School in February.

Sherry Lynn Hibbitts, 42, of Warner Robins, was indicted by a Houston County grand jury this week on charges of impersonating a law enforcement officer and disrupting a public school.

Hibbitts is accused of walking into the school about 1 p.m. Feb. 2 and telling Principal Chris Brown she was a GBI agent, which alarmed the school’s staff and put the school on lockdown, according to the indictment and arrest warrant.

Several sheriff’s deputies also were dispatched to the school at 340 Piney Grove Road in Kathleen.

An arriving sheriff’s deputy found Hibbitts sitting across from Brown, who was behind his desk in his office. She told the deputy she was an undercover GBI agent and was looking for somewhere safe to go, a sheriff’s incident report said.

Brown told authorities that Hibbitts asked him to call 911 and have an ambulance sent to the school, which he did. Hibbitts was taken to the Houston Medical Center for evaulation and later to the Houston County jail, according to the report.

She remained jailed Friday. A bond of $4,600 has been set.

In an unrelated indictment, a Warner Robins woman is accused of robbing a man of his cell phone by holding a knife against his throat and threatening to stab him Feb. 24, according to the indictment and arrest warrant.

Benita Yolanda Billings, 41, was indicted on charges of armed robbery, aggravated assault, criminal trespass and simple battery.

The victim, 48-year-old Richard Smith, also was hit in the head with a vase in the incident at his Grant Street home in Warner Robins. He told police that he had asked his friend, Billings, to leave after the incident, police said.

Billings was being held Friday at the Houston County jail. A $5,000 bond has been set.
