Missing Perry man found safe

A Perry man who was reported missing by his family was found in Atlanta after he applied for a job there, police said.

James Larry Brown, 31, left his Houston Lake Road home Friday to stay at a friend’s residence, but he never returned home and did not show up for work, said Perry police Capt. Heath Dykes.

That alarmed his father, who told police that those actions weren’t like Brown, who had been working at a Perry fast-food restaurant. Brown also took a bag of clothes with him.

Police sought the public’s help in finding Brown by issuing a news release, distributing his photo to media outlets and posting the information on the department’s Facebook page Tuesday.

Wednesday morning, a manager of a McDonald’s in Atlanta called the manager of a Perry McDonald’s where Brown had been working the past four years for a reference.

The Perry manager called police. Meanwhile, Brown called his father after he learned he had been reported missing.
