No power? No problem for Martin's Bar-B-Q in Warner Robins
The owner of a Warner Robins barbecue restaurant didn't let Friday's storms wash out a day's work.
Richard Martin and his staff were in the process of cooking all of the day's meat when the worst of the storm knocked out power at Martin's Bar-B-Q, located on South Armed Forces Boulevard.
That included 18 briskets, 32 Boston butts, 24 slabs of ribs and 32 half-chickens, among other items.
"We cook fresh daily, so we already had that stuff on the grill when the storm came," he said.
With no power, the restaurant couldn't fully open for customers as it usually does at 10:30 a.m., so Martin posted on Facebook that he was holding a "no power sale," with brisket selling for $10 a pound, butts selling for $20 each and other discounted prices for meat.
"We needed to sell it," he said, noting that revenue for the day was about 70 percent of what a typical day would bring.
The cash register and credit-card machines weren't available, of course, so sales were cash only.
But Martin sold all the meat -- in about 45 minutes.
