Pedestrian killed during storm in Warner Robins
A pedestrian died after being hit by a sport utility vehicle late Tuesday during a storm.
Jonathan Love Joiner, 46, of Byron was taken to Houston Medical Center where he died of his injuries, according to a Warner Robins police news release.
The release said the 57-year-old driver of a 1999 Ford Explorer was traveling west on Watson Boulevard in the right lane near Austin Avenue when Joiner stepped into the road in front of his vehicle.
Police spokeswoman Jennifer Parson said weather is considered a factor because it was raining heavily at the time of the accident. Police were dispatched at 11:52 p.m.
Joiner did not have identification on him, but authorities were able to learn his name through a thumb scan, said Houston County Coroner Danny Galpin.
The section of roadway where the accident occurred includes two westbound lanes, a middle lane and two eastbound lanes. There's an additional merge lane near Austin Avenue. A restaurant and hotel are nearby.
The accident remains under investigation.
