One person airlifted after crash on Ga. 96 near Twiggs County line

Motorists are advised to avoid Ga. 96 near Old Hawkinsville Road after a three-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler just after 4 p.m. Thursday.

One person was injured and is being airlifted to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, said Houston County sheriff's Capt. Ronnie Harlowe. Whether the injuries are life-threatening is not yet known, he said.

He said the 18-wheeler was overturned and the road is blocked. The other vehicles are both pickup trucks, Harlowe said.

The crash site is about a half mile east of Old Hawkinsville Road near the Twiggs County line.
