Warner Robins man must serve entire 45-year sentence for May 2015 attack

A 43-year-old Warner Robins man was found guilty Friday of several charges, including attempted armed robbery, aggravated assault, entering auto and criminal damage to property in the first degree.

According to a news release for District Attorney George Hartwig, Leroy Wilson was sentenced to 45 years in prison by Judge Edward Lukemire in Houston County Superior Court. Because he has six prior felony convictions, Wilson will have to serve the entire sentence, the release said.

Last May 29, Wilson attacked a Warner Robins woman who was opening the Smokes 2 Bar and Grill on Russell Parkway. Wilson attempted to rob her at gunpoint, but she was able to get away, the release said. He ran after her and held a gun to her head. She broke free again, and Wilson stole a bag from her car. As he fled, he fired at the woman's car, damaging it.

"This verdict and sentence serves as a message that people who commit armed robbery, assault with a firearm and place innocent lives in danger will be prosecuted vigorously and punished severely," Hartwig said in the release.
