Macon prison officer accused of selling confiscated cellphones
A former Georgia Department of Corrections officer was arrested Wednesday after allegedly selling cellphones confiscated at Central State Prison in Macon.
Brendon Lee'Dangelo Brown, 25, was charged with theft by taking and violation of oath of office, according to Bibb County jail records.
Brown is charged with taking the cellphones without permission and selling them around Warner Robins and Houston County between Aug. 16 and Oct. 9 of last year, according to the arrest warrants.
Brown lost his job with the department after the alleged thefts, said Gwendolyn Hogan, a spokeswoman for the Department of Corrections.
