UPDATE: Warner Robins water main break closes two restaurants
WARNER ROBINS -- A water main break shut down at least two restaurants Wednesday evening.
The break on Osigian Boulevard originally affected only about a two-block area of mostly medical offices, said Montie Walters, Warner Robins' utility director.
But as crews tried to make the repair, they realized they couldn't isolate the break by shutting off valves. About 3:30 p.m. they had to shut down the plant that serves the area.
Water service was restored to most customers in the area after about an hour, but an area on the southside of Watson Boulevard that included LongHorn Steakhouse and Cheddar's remained without water into the evening.
Walters said he wasn't sure if any other restaurants had to close.
About 6 p.m. Walters said he hoped to have the repair made within a couple of hours. He expected all of the water service would be restored by Thursday morning.
Crews also worked to repair a break at the corner of U.S. 41 and Watson Boulevard on Wednesday, but Walters said that break only affected the convenience store there.
Walters said the breaks may be the result of shifting ground from recent rainfall.
