Warner Robins man arrested after standoff, tear gas
A Warner Robins man was arrested on Peach County warrants after a standoff at his home Saturday.
Thomas Greathouse, 36, was wanted for kidnapping, assault, weapons charges and "several other warrants" related to an incident in Peach County, said Capt. Mike Stokes with the Houston County Sheriff's Office.
On Saturday, the sheriff's office got word that Greathouse was at his Lake Joy Road home about 3:30 p.m. The Sheriff's Response Team, Houston County's S.W.A.T. equivalent, was dispatched to the scene about 5:45 p.m. after efforts to contact Greathouse by phone were unsuccessful.
A negotiator also tried to communicate by his vehicle's public address system.
"He refused to acknowledge anything from us," Stokes said.
The SRT then turned to tear gas in an effort to get Greathouse to leave his home.
"He decided it was time to come out and give up," Stokes said.
Greathouse is being held at the Peach County jail.
