11-year-old girl ejected from vehicle in Christmas wreck dies
One of five children ejected from a vehicle during a wreck on Christmas Day has died.
Lakevia George, 11, died from head trauma at 1:19 p.m. Sunday, Peach County Coroner Kerry Rooks said.
The one-vehicle accident on Interstate 75 just north of Exit 149 occurred about 9:35 p.m. on Friday, and because five children were ejected, Byron police suspect they weren't wearing seat belts. The accident remains under investigation, and two of the children remain in the hospital, Rooks said.
