3 children critical after being ejected from vehicle in Christmas crash on I-75 in Byron
Three children were in critical condition Saturday afternoon following a Christmas day wreck that ejected them and two other children from their vehicle.
Police were dispatched to the one-vehicle crash on I-75 North just north of Exit 149 for Ga. 49 at about 9:35 p.m. Friday. The five children -- ages 4, 7, 9, 11 and 12 -- were taken to Medical Center, Navicent Health, according to Byron police. The adult driver and adult passenger also were taken to the hospital.
Because they were ejected from the vehicle, police suspect the kids weren't wearing seat belts, Lt. Bryan Hunter said.
Names of those involved in the crash were not immediately available.
Details of the wreck are still being investigated. Anyone with information is asked to call Hunter or Sgt. Eric Farris at 478-956-2880.
