Bonaire teen's murder indictment reveals motive for slaying
PERRY -- A Bonaire teenager was indicted Tuesday by a Houston County grand jury on murder charges in connection with the slaying of another teen earlier this year in a drug-related armed robbery attempt.
Kaden Chase Barefoot, who is being tried as an adult, was indicted on two counts of felony murder and one count each of malice murder, armed aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, attempted armed robbery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, theft by receiving a stolen firearm and possession of the pain medication hydrocodone.
Barefoot is accused of shooting 16-year-old Ryan Skeen in the neck Oct. 26 in Franklin Square in a neighborhood south of Feagin Mill Road. Skeen died Oct. 28 at the Medical Center, Navicent Health in Macon.
Barefoot was 13 at the time of the shooting. The indictment did not include his date of birth.
Barefoot is accused of shooting Skeen with a 9mm handgun during an attempt to rob him of an undisclosed amount of marijuana, according to the indictment.
Barefoot is being held in a regional youth detention center pending trial.
In a separate case, a fifth suspected gang member from Atlanta was indicted Tuesday in connection with the killing of a Macon man as he pumped gas at a Booth Road station in Warner Robins.
Monnie Joseph Brabham IV, 32, was shot and killed minutes before noon Jan. 23, 2014, at the pumps of Murphy USA near the Wal-Mart off Russell Parkway.
Tianna Danet Maynard, 32, was indicted on charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and violation of the street gang terrorism and prevention act.
Michael Montreal Gooden, 23, Clifton James Roberts, 31, Ameshia Cartis Cosby, 18, and Deondray Darnell Yarn, 19, all previously were indicted on charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, armed robbery and violation of the street gang terrorism and prevention act.
Also, Gooden, Roberts and Yarn were each indicted on a charge of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
A notice to seek the death penalty against Gooden in the slaying has been filed by the Houston County District Attorney's Office, according to court records.
Maynard, Gooden, Roberts, Cosby, Yarn and Seymore are accused of being associated with the One Eight Trey gang, a subset of the larger Bloods street gang.
Brabham was not part of the gang, and One Eight Trey was not a Warner Robins gang, police said.
In an unrelated case, Ronnie Glover, 60, of Warner Robins, was indicted on two counts of aggravated assault and one count each of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and pointing a gun at another person.
The charges stem from a Sunday morning argument Oct. 18 in which Glover allegedly shot two people.
About 12:15 a.m., Ronnie Glover, 59, was arguing with Curtis Noles, 38, at the home of 34-year-old Lakeeva Smith at 127 Long St., according to the Houston County Sheriff's Office.
Glover allegedly got his gun from his house at 126 Long St., which is off Dunbar Road, not far from Elberta Road off Ga. 247.
Several shots were fired with bullets hitting Noles in the chest and left leg and striking Smith in the back of her upper left leg, the release stated.
Noles was taken to Medical Center, Navicent Health, in Macon, and Smith was treated and released from Houston Medical Center.
Also indicted was Michael Andre Tristan, 31, of Warner Robins, who is accused of stabbing another man in a Nov. 1 incident in Warner Robins.
