Warner Robins event aims to connect offenders with resources on Saturday
The Georgia Department of Community Supervision will hold its first-ever Family Day event in Warner Robins on Saturday.
The new initiative provides an opportunity for offenders and their families to connect with critical resources that can help equip them with the necessary skills to remain productive members of their community while under DCS supervision and after the completion of their sentences, according to a news release from DCS.
"The goal of 'Family Day' is to provide a convenient, unintimidating and friendly setting where information is shared and the dialogue between offender and provider can be enhanced," DCS Commissioner Michael Nail said in the release.
A number of local and state agencies, faith-based organizations and private vendors from the area will be on hand. There also will be games for children of all ages to enjoy, according to the release.
The event will take place from noon-4 p.m. at Southside Baptist Church, 1040 South Houston Lake Road.
