Houston County convenience store clerk robbed at knifepoint
A clerk at R & K County Store at 2922 South U.S. 341 in south Houston County was robbed at knifepoint Sunday night, according to a sheriff's office report.
The 23-year-old clerk told authorities a masked man held a knife to his back as he was taking out the trash and dragged him by his shirt collar about 10 feet behind the business, the Houston County Sheriff's Office report said.
The clerk tried to dig his heels into the ground, almost losing a shoe. He said the knife had a wooden handle and at least a six-inch blade.
The suspect took the clerk's wallet and cursed him as he fled on foot, according to the report.
The suspect was wearing a black ski mask, camouflage jacket and black gloves. He was described as a black man with a light complexion, about 6 feet tall and between 180 and 190 pounds.
A sheriff's deputy was dispatched to the store at 8:10 p.m. The store has a Hawkinsville address but is located in Houston County.
Anyone with information related to the incident is asked to call the Houston County Sheriff's Office at 542-2085 or 542-2080.
