Miss America Betty Cantrell singing at Ole Miss game
Fans of Miss America Betty Cantrell who lamented on social media that she didn't sing during this week's Country Music Association Awards show might have another chance to hear her Saturday.
Cantrell will be singing "God Bless America" prior to Saturday's Ole Miss football game against Arkansas, which is scheduled to air on CBS at 3:30 p.m. Saturday.
It is not clear how much of the pre-game festivities will be televised from Vaught-Hemingway Stadium at the University of Mississippi in Oxford, Mississippi.
She did reach a national audience Wednesday night, as Cantrell joined singer Darius Rucker to present the award for song of the year on live television from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
Monday, Cantrell will be back in Music City to host Hearts Unsung, featuring Lady Antebellum. The benefit for the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals will be at the Schermerhorn Symphony Center.
At the concert, the beauty queen, who exchanged her Miss Warner Robins title for Miss Georgia in Columbus, also will be sharing her acclaimed singing voice that earned her the coveted Miss America crown in Atlantic City in September.
Miss America serves as the national goodwill ambassador for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and has been visiting patients and staff at hospitals across the country.
Warner Robins welcomes Cantrell home Nov. 14 with a motorcade down Watson Boulevard beginning at 10 a.m. from Houston Road to City Hall.
She be escorted by local school bands and many of the top 10 contestants from the 95th annual Miss America Pageant.
Miss Georgia, Adeline Kenerly, who was crowned by Cantrell at the University of Georgia's Sanford Stadium in October, also will join the pageant parade.
The first 5,000 people lining the streets to wave at the hometown celebrity will receive hand fans in official Miss America hues of pink and blue.
Cantrell is not expected to be home much during her reign due to an intense traveling schedule that has already taken her across the country and to Canada.
