Driver charged with hit-and-run in accident with Houston County school bus

WARNER ROBINS -- The driver of a vehicle that struck a Houston County school bus early Tuesday has been charged with hit-and-run, police said.

Officers responded to the intersection of Wallace Drive and Parkway Drive at 6:47 a.m. in reference to a hit-and-run accident involving a school bus, Warner Robins police spokeswoman Jennifer Parson said via email.

The police investigation found that 28-year-old Shaquinda Shaw struck the bus with her vehicle, Parson said.

Shaw also was charged with disruption of a public school and reckless driving, Parson said.

Twenty-seven Thomson Middle School students were aboard the bus at the time, with no injuries reported at the scene. But later the bus monitor reported a minor injury, and two students also reported injuries to school staff, said Beth McLaughlin, spokeswoman for Houston County schools.

The bus driver took the students on to school, while another bus was dispatched to complete the route, McLaughlin said. Minimal damage was reported, Parson said.
