Houston County Sheriff’s Office investigating weekend stabbing
WARNER ROBINS -- Houston County authorities are investigating a weekend stabbing.
A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the Medical Center of Peach County, Navicent Health, about 5 p.m. Saturday about a stabbing victim, according to a sheriff’s office incident report.
Darius Lowe, 23, told the deputy he was stabbed in the chest with a pocket knife by the boyfriend of his sister, the report said.
Lowe said he had overheard his mother talking about his sister’s boyfriend punching his sister, and he went to the boyfriend’s home near Byron to confront him. When Lowe realized he’d been stabbed, he drove himself to the hospital.
Houston County sheriff’s Lt. Jon Holland said there are conflicting statements from those involved.
Those who pulled the men apart during the fight did not see a knife, Holland said.
Lowe later was taken by ambulance to the Medical Center, Navicent Health, as a precaution for treatment of a deep puncture wound that did not come close to any vital organs, Holland said.
No charges had been filed as of Monday afternoon, Holland said.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Houston County sheriff’s Lt. Dave Carrick at 478-542-2085.
