Fort Valley lottery player won $1M in a scratch-off ticket. Where it was sold

A Georgia Lottery player won $1 million after purchasing a scratch-off ticket at a convenience store in Fort Valley, according to a news release Thursday from the lottery organization.

The ticket was purchased at Knoxville Tobacco Mart on 906 Knoxville St. The player claimed their winnings on Wednesday, selecting “the lump sum cash option of $535,398.06,” the news release said.

Proceeds from purchasing Georgia Lottery tickets benefit statewide educational programs like the HOPE scholarship and pre-k.

“More than 2.3 million students have received HOPE, and more than 2.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program,” the news release said.
