Warner Robins lounge now offers dishes from restaurant that got its start in Byron
If you’ve missed the taste and flavors of the former Prominent Bar and Restaurant in Byron, you can now find them at Pure Lounge 25 in Warner Robins.
The renamed Prominent Restaurant is operating the kitchen of the lounge at 115 Margie Drive.
The restaurant is known for its Miami-inspired dishes and homestyle soul food. The lounge is known for its good vibes, drinks, music and hookah.
“It brings a lot to the business,” said Donta Truss, owner of Pure Lounge 25.
‘Work as a team’
After nearly two years in operation at 315 Ga. 49, Suite B, in Byron, owners Mondrika and Thomas Tomlin closed the restaurant in March with plans to relocate. In the meantime, a new restaurant is gearing up to open in that space later this month.
Instead of opening their family restaurant in a new location, the Tomlins decided to try something different while expanding their customer base. The lounge is designed for adults.
“Relocating from Byron was a bittersweet experience for us,” Mondrika Tomlin said. “But collaborating with Donta has been one of the greatest opportunities for us, and I feel like us continuing to do business together is basically a winning formula for the both of us.”
The Tomlins handle the kitchen portion of Pure Lounge 25 while Truss handles everything else, she said.
“Basically, we just work as a team … We’re operating in his business, but we’re running it as one business,” Tomlin said.
What’s on the Prominent Restaurant menu?
The kitchen serves up lunch and dinner from Wednesday through Sunday, including all-day Sunday brunch and soul food.
The daily one-page menu includes cooked to order appetizers, sandwiches, a burger, entrees and salads.
Many of the dishes will be familiar to patrons of the former restaurant, including the key house dip made with ground beef, shrimp and chicken, cheese, Rotel tomatoes and served with homemade tortilla chips.
Another popular entree is the royaltee seafood rice, described on the menu as seasoned sazon rice with a combination of shrimp, crab meat and sausage served with one snow crab cluster.
The Sunday menu includes a choice of soul food options with two sides and cornbread. Choices include fried chicken, fried pork chop, oxtails, baked chicken and turkey wings. Sides include cabbage, collard greens, yams, rice, and mac and cheese.
Brunch options include chicken and waffle, which is also on the regular menu, plain waffles served with strawberries and blueberries, french toast, grits served with choice of shrimp, corn beef hash, fish, or salmon croquettes on top, and scrambled eggs.
What are the restaurant’s hours?
The Tomlins haven’t ruled out opening their restaurant in a new space in the future. But for now, they’re giving their new digs a try, Mondrika Tomlin said. If all goes well, they might even do both the kitchen lounge and a restaurant..
Kitchen hours are 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. The lounge remains open an hour longer after the kitchen closes Wednesday through Saturday. The establishment is closed Monday and Tuesday. The Prominent Restaurant kitchen number is 478-654-5000.
