Three arrested in Perry after investigation into Walmart theft ring
Three suspects allegedly involved in a theft ring affecting Walmart stores across the Southeast were arrested in Houston County on Dec. 17, the Perry Police Department said Tuesday.
The investigation led to the arrest of Christopher Simpson, 41; Peyton Foster, 26; and Jonathan Eubanks, 31. During the arrest, officers recovered about $30,000 worth of stolen merchandise and evidence linking them to thefts at Walmart and other big-box store locations across state lines, the Perry Police Department said. They said multiple Walmart locations sustained significant losses.
“The offenders are believed to be part of an organized group responsible for stealing high-value items from stores in several states,” the police department said.
Simpson, Foster and Eubanks were taken into custody at the Houston County Detention Facility awaiting formal charges, though the Perry Police Department said conspiracy and organized theft charges will be expected as the investigation continues.
The investigation was coordinated by the Perry Police Department, the Houston County Sheriff’s Office and Walmart’s Global Investigations Division. Law enforcement agencies in the affected states were notified and are assisting with the investigation.
