Warner Robins man charged with child molestation after picking up 11-year-old girl

A Warner Robins man is accused of molesting an 11-year-old girl he picked up while she was walking along Dunbar Road last month.

James David Wilson, 60, was arrested and charged Wednesday with aggravated child molestation, aggravated sexual battery and solicitation of sodomy, said Houston County Sheriff’s Sgt. Gary Andrews.

“He didn’t know her,” Andrews said. “She didn’t know him … It’s that stranger-danger, and that’s what this is.”

Here’s what happened between 2 and 4 p.m. June 20, according to Andrews:

The girl was at home with her sisters while their parents were at work. She wanted to get out of the house and left without permission.

She was walking down Dunbar Road when Wilson pulled over in his pickup truck and offered her ride.

The girl accepted, expecting to get a ride to Target.

“She doesn’t have a clue of what’s coming or what’s going on,” Andrews said.

Instead, Wilson allegedly took her to an undisclosed location and molested her.

He then gave her $100 and dropped her off at Target at 2929 Watson Blvd.

Meanwhile, her family realized that she was missing and she was reported as a runaway.

About the time Warner Robins police arrived at her home, the family learned she was at Target, and a police officer was dispatched to the store.

She was reunited with her family, and the sheriff’s office, which has a juvenile investigations division, was asked to investigate.

Once sheriff’s investigators had built their case against Wilson, he was arrested. Among the evidence against him is the $100 he allegedly gave the girl, according to police.

Wilson was being held without bond Thursday at the Houston County jail. He has no known criminal convictions, according to Andrews.

Andrews declined to go into more details about the case pending trial.
