Judge orders temporary closure of a Houston County office due to positive COVID-19 case
The Houston County Superior Court Clerk’s Office has been temporarily closed after a deputy clerk tested positive for COVID-19.
The clerk, who works in the civil division of that office, tested positive Tuesday, according to a judge’s order.
Chief Judge Edward D. Lukemire ordered the closure Wednesday, noting in the order that the deputy clerks within all divisions of that office work in proximity to each other.
The order requires all deputy clerks to quarantine. The clerk’s office, located in the Houston County Courthouse in Perry, will be closed until further order of the court.
Houston County reported 1,368 cumulative COVID-19 positive cases, up 71 cases in 24 hours, according to the Georgia Department of Public Health’s daily update Thursday. Thirty-six people have died from COVID-19 in Houston County. No new deaths were reported Thursday.
