Body found in Crawford County’s Flint River after man goes missing, deputies say
Deputies found a man’s body in a Crawford County river a day just days after he went missing, officials said.
The last time a family member heard from Jody C. Hedley, 53, was Monday, according to a media release. Family called the sheriff’s office the next day around 5:40 p.m. to report Hedley as missing.
“After trying to contact him, it was unsuccessful,” deputies said.
Deputies then filed a missing person report to the Georgia Crime Information Center. They searched the Flint River Boat Ramp off of Ga. Highway 128, where he could have been, but couldn’t find him Tuesday, deputies said.
The sheriff’s office, Department of Natural Resources and Georgia Bureau of Investigation searched the area again Wednesday and found Hedley “south of the boat ramp in the river deceased,” a press release said.
Hedley’s body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is leading the investigation with assistance from the sheriff’s office.
