A Byron man at the wheel of a Chevy Tahoe died in a car crash in south Macon early Wednesday after his car flipped over on a curve, officials said.

The crash happened just before 6 a.m. when the man, 24, was driving the Tahoe north on Hartley Bridge Road, according to a statement from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

The car hit the curve just before the Arnold Drive intersection and went off the road, flipping over and ejecting the driver from the car. First responders found the driver underneath the rolled Tahoe when they arrived.

The man died at 7:21 a.m., according to Bibb deputy coroner Luanne Stone.

Officials had not released the man’s name as of Wednesday morning.

No one else was injured in the wreck, which is still under investigation.
