It’s National Volunteer Month, and in Middle Georgia, several organizations offer volunteer opportunities.

Whether you like to play with dogs or you want to put a smile on a stranger’s face, Middle Georgia has you covered and it’s fairly simple to get involved.

Here is a list of places to volunteer in Middle Georgia and brief description of how they serve the community:

People

The Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia started in 1956 and works to provide shelter and meals to people in need. Volunteers at the Rescue Mission have opportunities to work in the kitchen, the bargain center and in administrative roles as well as other roles. The Macon Volunteer Clinic offers free primary health care to people working in Bibb County who are uninsured and whose income is equal to or less than 200 percent of the federal poverty level, according to their website.
