Body found in search for missing man
Searchers in Telfair County found a body while looking for a missing man.
Tommy James Hulett, 40, was last seen going into the woods off Misty Lane about 11 a.m. Friday, according to the Telfair County sheriff’s Facebook page.
Hulett’s identification was with the body that was found Sunday afternoon in the woods about a quarter mile from his house, Sheriff Chris Steverson said.
Hulett, who was about 6 feet tall and weighed about 260 pounds, had a serious health condition that required continual monitoring.
There is no reason to suspect foul play in his death, Steverson said.
“He was diabetic and needed insulin daily, but we knew his insulin was at home,” he said.
Sheriff’s deputies, Telfair County Emergency Management Agency and members of the McRae-Helena Fire Department and Georgia Department of Natural Resources, the Georgia State Patrol, the American Red Cross and volunteers searched for Hulett.
“We just had a phenomenal outpouring of support from local businesses and volunteers,” Steverson said.
