Thomaston man killed after truck wrecks in Florida swamp
A Thomaston, Georgia, man was killed in Florida Thursday when the tractor trailer he was driving wrecked in a swamp.
Antoine Atwater, 31, was traveling southbound on Interstate 75 in Alachua County, Florida, about 9 p.m. when his tractor trailer left the roadway and traveled into Paynes Prairie swamp land, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The cab became submerged, and Atwater was trapped inside. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Atwater’s passenger, Sharaine Furlow, 25, of Thomaston was not injured, the release states.
