Road detour needed as Log Cabin Drive project progresses
Starting Tuesday, a section of Hollingsworth Road will be closed as crews continue work on the $1.5 million Log Cabin Drive project in Macon, according to a news release.
Hollingsworth between Log Cabin and Emily Street will be closed for the installation of a storm drain and some other construction work. The road and intersection realignment is being paid for with the special purpose local option sales tax.
Drivers will be able to use Emily Street as a detour during the closure. Hollingsworth Road is expected to reopen in about three weeks, but another closure will have to take place in order to finish paving the road, the release said.
“The residents of the Bellevue neighborhood have a lot to look forward to thanks to the SPLOST,” Macon-Bibb County Commissioner Al Tillman said in the release. “Connected to this safety project is the new Filmore Thomas Park, which we’re creating with more than $1.7 in SPLOST funding.”
