Macon restaurant robbed

A gunman entered a Macon restaurant before it opened Sunday and struck an employee before taking his wallet.

The robbery took place at about 11 a.m. at El Dorado Mexican Restaurant at 3547 Mercer University Drive, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office release.

The suspect entered the restaurant through the ventilation system. He brandished a pistol at an employee and demanded money. The employee turned to run out the front door and the gunman struck him on the right side of his head with the gun.

The employee gave the gunman his wallet and a necklace then got away. The suspect ran out of the rear door.

The employee was treated at the Medical Center, Navicent Health, for minor injuries.

The suspect was described as a black male, approximately six feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing dark clothes and had a silver pistol.
