A 59-year-old Macon man who is accused of tying up his wife, forcing her in his car and threatening to kill her daughter earlier this week was arrested Wednesday afternoon, according to jail records.

Terry Lynn Porter Sr., of Recreation Road in east Macon, faces charges including aggravated assault and kidnapping, according to an arrest warrant from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

About 3 a.m. Tuesday, Porter threatened to cut his wife with a knife and told her, “You’re going to die tonight,” according to the warrant. He bound her neck with ties and stuffed a sock in her mouth for a gag, the warrant said.

Then, the warrant said, Porter forced her inside a car at knifepoint and drove her to her daughter’s house, where he threatened “to kill her daughter and make her watch,” the warrant said. Porter was headed toward Atlanta when the woman managed to escape on Spring Street near North Avenue.

Porter remained in jail Wednesday evening without bond, jail records show. Porter has a criminal history including violent crimes in Clayton and Bibb counties, according to the Georgia Department of Corrections website.
