One killed in I-16 crash in Laurens County

A person was killed in a vehicle crash on Interstate 16 eastbound in Laurens County on Wednesday evening, according to Laurens County 911.

Neal Russell Head, 51, of Randy Road in Macon, was pronounced dead at the scene about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday by the Laurens County Coroner, Deputy Coroner Nathan Stanley said.

The fatal crash, which involved just one car, occurred near Ga. 338 near mile marker 42 about 4:30 p.m., according to the Georgia Department of Transportation’s traffic website.

Two right lanes were closed for the afternoon but were expected to reopen at 7 p.m.
