Macon 4-year-old drowns at Florida resort

A 4-year-old girl was pronounced dead after drowning in a pool at a hotel in Daytona Beach, Florida, on Thursday.

Hailey Stanley of Macon died even though bystanders and medical officials attempted to resuscitate her at the Grand Seas Resort in Daytona Beach, according to a report from Daytona Beach Police Department.

Hailey was left in the kiddie pool with two boys, 4 and 8, by her caretaker who went to a bar for a drink, according to the report. The child apparently went down a slide that empties into the deeper end of the pool and was discovered at the bottom of that pool.

CPR was performed on the child until emergency officials arrived.
