‘Happy Tails’ to showcase animals ready for adoption
A new Macon event will show off felines, canines and other animals in need of loving homes, according to a news release.
The Macon-Bibb County Animal Welfare Department and partners are hosting the “Happy Tails Adoption Event” that will feature free food, drinks, educational activities and more. The event that runs Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. will be held at the shelter at 4214 Fulton Mill Road.
Happy Tails features animals available for adoption through Animal Welfare and various rescue groups, including Peach County Animal Rescue, Pawsome Southern Rescue, Gentle Giants of Georgia, All About Animals, Pixel and Furever After.
“We wanted to open our doors to the general public and show them what great animals there are at Animal Welfare and with our local and regional rescue groups,” Animal Welfare Director Sonja Adams said in the release.
Among the event’s highlights:
▪ Spay and neuter services
▪ Live music from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
▪ Tips on preparing pets for emergencies, severe weather
▪ Dog training and bite prevention classes
▪ Bounce houses, face painting and art station
▪ Gift card giveaways
The Animal Welfare Department’s fees for adoptions are $100 for dogs and $60 for cats. For more information visit the department’s Facebook page.
