14-year-old arrested, charged with entering 35 vehicles in Macon
A 14-year-old male was arrested Thursday by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and charged with 35 counts of entering an automobile.
The male, whose name was not released because he is a minor, was taken to the Regional Youth Detention Center after his arrest, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
The incidents by the juvenile of entering autos occurred over a year’s time, and he disclosed during questioning that the cars were unlocked. Many of the autos entered were in the Ingleside and Vineville neighborhoods. Some of the incidents occurred on Mercer University’s campus, the release said.
“This is a tremendous amount of cases attributed to one individual,” Sheriff David Davis said in the release. “This illustrates how troublesome one person can be once they decide to engage in criminal activity. ... I am very disturbed that this perpetrator is only 14 years old and has been stealing from cars for a year.”
More charges and more arrests may be made as the investigation continues, the release said.
