Bibb coroner urges residents to check on neighbors this summer

With warmer weather on the horizon, Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones is urging residents to check on their neighbors.

So far in 2016, five people were found deceased in their Bibb County homes from apparent natural causes but went unnoticed for a while.

"We don't want to find any more bodies," Jones said.

When a neighbor's well-manicured lawn becomes overgrown with weeds or the mailbox is overflowing with mail, those are signs the neighbor should be checked on, he said.

The coroner asks the public to be particularly watchful of elderly neighbors this summer.
