A 46-year-old Dublin man was found dead in a Macon hotel room Thursday morning, and Macon-Bibb County Chief Deputy Coroner Lonnie Miley said it’s being investigated as a suspicious death.

The body of Charles Edward Meyers III, a registered nurse who frequently traveled, was found in bed by hotel staff at Quality Inn & Suites off Riverside Parkway off Tom Hill Boulevard just before 11 a.m., Miley said.

Meyers, who stayed at the hotel when working in Macon at the Medical Center, Navicent Health, checked into the room about eight or nine days ago, Miley said. Meyers, who would sometimes pay for the room on a daily basis, hadn’t paid the hotel in a couple of days, prompting staff to visit his room.

“We’re treating it as a suspicious death (because of) his age, and he was found in the room with no outstanding apparent medical history,” Miley said.

An autopsy will be performed Friday.
