Juveniles charged in Macon truck theft, burglary of home

Two juveniles were arrested Saturday after they allegedly burglarized a home in Macon then stole a truck.

A photo that the homeowner took of the burglars helped identify the suspects, according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office release.

About 5:30 p.m. deputies were called to O’Reilly’s Auto Parts at 3550 Pio Nono Avenue, where a man reported his truck was stolen. He said he had left the keys in the truck, a 1988 Chevy, when he went in the store. He said he saw two young men get in the truck and drive off.

Minutes later, deputies found the truck in a church parking lot on Newburg Avenue. Soon after that, the two suspects were found nearby at Advance Auto Parts on Pio Nono Avenue.

During the investigation of the truck theft, the release stated, investigators discovered the two were involved in a burglary on Heard Avenue about 3 p.m. A witness saw the two suspects go into the residence, the release stated, and the homeowner was able to get a photo of them.

The suspects, ages 14 and 15, were charged with theft by taking and burglary. They were taken to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center.
