The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in an ongoing business burglary investigation.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help to identify a group of four criminals responsible for burglarizing a string of convenience and liquor stores this month, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

The criminals are targeting businesses that deal in a high-cash volume, and they are burglarizing the stores when they’re closed, the release said. In April, deputies reported an increased number of businesses that are broken into in the early-morning hours after their alarms are disabled, the release said.

The sheriff’s office is adding extra patrols, and investigators are following up on good leads to identify the suspects, the release said. The public is asked to be vigilant. Anyone who sees the four suspects drive past a closed business in pairs, especially in the pre-dawn hours, is asked to call the sheriff’s department.

Business owners are encouraged to be proactive by doing the following:

• Do not leave the day’s cash in the store.

• Provide good lighting around the store.

• Install working surveillance cameras.

• Lock all doors and windows.

• Have a working alarm system with an immediate notification if the alarm is triggered for any reason, such as disabling.
