Paula Deen set to help judge Dancing Stars of Central Georgia
Celebrity chef Paula Deen will be among the judges at this year’s Dancing Stars of Central Georgia.
The fifth-annual event, which helps raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association, is scheduled for May 7 at the City Auditorium.
Nine midstate community leaders will showcase their best moves on the dance floor with their professional dance partners. The winner will take home the People's Choice Trophy for most money raised for the cause.
Joining Deen for the judging will be her "Dancing With the Stars" partner, Louie van Amstel, as well as film producer Michael Dunaway and publicist Terrell Sandefur.
The association estimates that there are 130,000 Georgians with Alzheimer's disease, and that numer is expected to rise by 46 percent within the next 10 years.
Dancing Stars of Central Georgia's aim is to support research, along with care, support programs and services for individuals with Alzheimer's disease in Georgia, as well as their families and caregivers. The fundraising goal for Dancing Stars of Central Georgia is $275,000.
