Two major sewage spills in Macon caused by heavy rain
Heavy rains in Middle Georgia last week are to blame for two major sewage spills, according to the Macon Water Authority.
About 5.5 inches of rain fell in Macon on Friday, causing hydraulic overloads that resulted in a 281,220-gallon sewage spill from a manhole at 1301 Riverside Drive and a 49,835-gallon spill from another manhole the overpass at 304 Bay St., according to news releases.
Debris was removed from the areas of the spills, and both were treated with lime.
