Forsyth water line ruptures, residents urged to conserve

A pipe that flows into the water-treatment plant in Forsyth ruptured Saturday afternoon and residents there and those who live in some subdivisions outside the city limits were urged to conserve water.

The Monroe County Emergency Management Agency posted the request on its Facebook page.

"This line runs to the treatment facility that takes clean water to town," the message said. "This means a stop to all outside watering."

Officials asked that residents avoid washing their cars and to not run washing machines.

"This includes the neighborhoods in the county that get city water," the message added. "Those include Riverwalk, Riata, River Forest and Sydney Woods. Boxankle Road between Ga. 42 and Johnstonville Road as well."

The message didn't mention why the rupture might have happened or where it happened.
